Trek! I Will Go and Do!

We had the amazing opportunity to be a Ma and Pa on trek! We had such a good experience! We definitely felt like youth ourselves half the time. And were even mistaken as them a few times.
We had such an awesome family! We probably had some of the best kids there! Which we needed... going from no kids to 10 teenagers is a little challenging.

They bused us up to Williams Arizona which is right outside of Flagstaff.

All the handcarts loaded onto the truck!

The stake brought a buffalo up and shot it one morning.. (not in front of everyone of course.) They smoked the meat and we had it for dinner the next night. They named it Val after the Val Vista Stake. And it made for a great photo op! (After the photographer took this pictures they said, "Wait, where are your ma and pa?"

The women's pull! We had some tough girls who did such a good job!

During the service project. Crocheting plastic mats for homeless shelters.

During the activities at the base camp.

Our kids just goofing off.

The Knife game.. I was so scared one of our kids would get hurt.. it's the mom in me I guess..

The whole family before we headed out on the last morning.

 Silly Picture

Our strong sons proving their manlihood.

Look at that cowboy! He was such a great Pa!

Our beautiful daughters! (including baby Ellen)

Our crazy sons. (I don't know how many times we had to tell Matt the button up his shirt...)

The last morning.. we're looking pretty gross by this point. haha

 The final pull!

Unpacking the cart and waiting for the buses!

Trek was such an awesome experience. It really helped us to remember the pioneers and all they sacrificed. I'm so grateful for the Gospel! One thing that we talked a lot about on trek was the family unit. I'm so grateful for Daniel and our marriage in the Temple and the knowledge we can be together forever. It makes me so happy!
Anyway, trek was amazing! We loved it even though I don't think I've ever been that tired or sore in my life! We ended up walking about 21 miles. It was great!

Base ball, Birthday and Basking in the Sun

Here are some recent happenings in our life!

We went to a Dodgers vs Diamond Backs game one night. Daniel loves his baseball!

Baseball: America's Passtime.

Then I had a birthday. I am now 23 years old! My nice friends got me some flowers!

And my goofy husband baked me a cake... or somthing...

 What a cutie.

Gotta love summer here in AZ! And I hear it's just beginning....

We haven't used our pool much since we moved here, but the other day we sat outside for a bit! I was lovely!

Having fun by the pool.

Driving home from work the other day I could see the "haboob" or sand storm rolling in. It's not super clear here but it was moving fast in real life. Pretty cool.

I also randomly took up crocheting.

Botanical Gardens

Daniel and I decided to go to the Botanical Gardens yesterday morning. We got up early to beat the heat. It was so nice and peaceful with the birds chirping and just walking around enjoying the nature! It's amazing how Heavenly Father has made this earth so beautiful in so many different ways! Even in a barren desert like Arizona there are so many beautiful things!

 Greetings!

If you look closely there's a lizard sunning himself in the tree!

14 year old tortoise that they had walking around.

 We love nature!

In the butterfly house!

I got a little hitchhiker and Daniel was quick enough to snap a picture!

So many cool cacti!!

Daniel did not want to be the butterfly for some strange reason.... haha
