New hobby?

I've had a lot of friends have birthdays lately and I've come to find decorating cakes really fun.. I'm not very good but it's fun to think up ideas and try them out. Maybe someday I'll take a class on cake decorating.. who knows! Anyway, here are some of the cakes I've made recently...

We had a combined birthday party for 3 people last night and we figured we might as well make more cake.. so we figured out that it was Kate's half birthday.. thus half a birthday cake..

Our friend Alison loves Harry Potter!

Good old Corey needed an exciting, colorful cake.

My roommate Sara loves tetris and plays in her free time often... haha

Our fhe brother Stephen had a birthday.. he's studying middle eastern studies so what better than a desert oasis! (flying carpet and all!)

Our friend Matt is Canadian and we like to poke fun of that fact often.. so of course, a Canadian flag cake!

The sun never sets on Disney!!

So my roommates and I went on a trip this weekend down to Disneyland. We didn't have school on Monday, and none of us have very many classes on Friday so it was perfect. We drove down, spent a couple days in the parks and drove back. It was such a fun trip! I'm so lucky to have the friends I do and that we have so much fun together!
Just a warning, this post is going to be long... lots of pictures and lots of stories.. I'm using it as sort of a journal so I remember everything that happened.

Here's a quick list of fun/funny things that happened.
1. Walking quickly to make it to star tours before it closed and turning around to see a grown man running as fast and he could behind us to make it. He wanted to see that star tours.
2. crazy splash mountain mom (story below)
3. Tower of Terror stop (story below)
4. Jogging from ride to ride, looking like crazies..
5. 10 rides in 2 hours!
6. Parking clear in Daisey 1k, Jill remembering the wrong parking place.
7. Driving into Anaheim the first night with Jill navigating. Listening to the Climb
8. The great continental breakfast we got at the hotel.. which consisted of toast and juice.
9. The sun never sets on Disney! (story below)
10. How much happier and nicer we all are to each other after having food in our systems!!
11. Taking personality tests to see what disney character we'd be.. I'm Mrs. Potts... don't know how I feel about that..
12. Poncho Lady
13. Deciding what land each of us would work in.. I'd work in frontier land I guess.
14. The crazy things you talk about while waiting in line.
15. Funnel cakes
16. Riding rides multiple times in a row.
17. choreographed car dance parties.
18. Sara and I bringing in the rear while in the park.
19. Big thunder mountain while the fireworks were going off.
20. Ending the day, falling asleep while watching Oprah make overs.

And many more...

Here are some pictures of the trip!

Excited for the ride down!

Got my Disney ticket!

Being bored in the car ride down.

So the first full day in Disney land started off with a funny story. We were riding the tram into the park and we hear a lady behind us talking to someone about all the Disney theme parks all over the world. She continues to say in her most serious voice. "well, you know, the sun truly never sets on Disney now. When one Disney park closes, another opens around the world." What a funny lady.

The Castle!

We all took turns being loosers and riding by ourselves.. that's what happens with uneven numbers.

We acted about 5 years old the whole time... everyone loved us.. haha

The classic teacups!

Ahhhhhh!!

Big thunder mountain- one of my favorites! Saturday night we rode it while the fireworks were going off... such an amazing thing! Coming up over a hill and fireworks blasting right in front of you... it was magical.

So scared!

Jill was a little afraid to ride solo..

The Haunted Mansion... pretty creepy.

Snack time in line at Indiana Jones

Toon Town!!

Just cooking up something in Minnie's kitchen.

I'm wishing... I'm wishing.... For the one I love......

I don't know who that little girl is.. haha

Hanging out in front of the trash waiting for the parade.

Fast passes! The secret to our success..

Splash Mountain! We had an interesting experience waiting for this ride. There was a mom with 3 girls waiting to get in. She looked at the back bench, which was wet, just as wet as any other bench would be on a SPLASH mountain ride and started complaining about it. She refused to sit there and was about to make her girls get out of the log. The boys who were in the front decided to get out and let her sit in front. (partly because they probably didn't want to ride with her.. haha) I think she secretly wanted to be in the front for the picture but had to find something to complain about...so she chose to complain about getting wet. Ironically, you get the most wet in the front seat. Some people are ridiculous.

Jilly with the bride mickey ears!

The rest of us with normal ears... haha

Us in front of it's a small world! Doing our costume poses from Halloween.

I don't know if many of my family members know this but a lot of my friends this year call me Cal. So, of course I had to take a picture in front of the "Cal" of California Adventure.

Stocking up on fast passes!

California Adventure

We love the muppets!

So I'm not going to lie, Hollywood Tower of Terror scared me so bad. I thought I was going to die the first time we rode it!

The second time we rode it, I was just as scared, if not more. For good reason. We got stuck! It stopped in the middle of it. Luckily we were on the bottom level and it only took about 10 minutes for them to get us out. There were definitely some annoying people stuck on the ride with us. Two minutes into it this lady started saying stuff like, "It seriously is sooo stuffy in here." and "When are we getting out, this is taking forever." While a little 10 year old girl on the front row, already scared from the ride, was hyperventalating because she was getting so nervous. After they asked if we wanted to ride it again, the crazy lady said, "You'd have to be insane to right it again!" So we rode it again!

So the last day at the park we decided to accomplish something so huge, so historical, so monumental that it would be written in the history books of the tomorrow land. We decided to ride 10 rides within 2 hours. Now, many of you may believe this is impossible. Just the shear time it takes to wait in line, travel from ride to ride and such must take more than 2 hours. Right? Wrong. With roommates who know Disneyland as well as mine, anything is possible at Disney. We did it! With the help of the rain, single rider and fast passes we did it! The order of the rides were as follows. Matterhorn, matterhorn, big thunder mountain, big thunder mountain, big thunder mountain, indiana jones, indiana jones, splash mountain, splash mountain, space mountain! It was amazing! 120 minutes, 10 rides..That is about 12 minutes per ride!!! After we took a celebratory picture in front of the castle. It was a great way to finish the trip!

Notice Sara's poncho.. we definitely called her poncho lady that whole day.

Walking out of the park, arm in arm. It was such a fun trip with some of my favorite people. We made some funny, great, and amazing memories. The ride home went great even with the rain and fog. It's kind of a sad thing because this will probably be the last big thing all of us do together. We've been friends for almost 3 years now and with Jill getting married and people possibly going on missions we just don't know when we could do something like this again. These girls are some of the best friends I've ever had and we have so much fun together! This was such an amazing trip!! I'll remember it for the rest of my life!!
